Cushion floor mats – Glue can be a difficult stain to remove. This is because you will have to use chemical solvents to remove the hardened glue from carpet or floor fibers. Use chemical solvents that do not damage the floor or the color or texture of the carpet. Test the cleaning method in a hidden area of your floor to make sure it will not cause damage in a more visible area. Clean the glue as soon as you notice it, as the glue will cure and harden over the course of several days and will be more difficult to remove.
Clean or collect as much glue as possible. If the glue stain is old it is possible that you will not be able to remove any in this way. Mix 1 cup of water with 2 drops of mild liquid soap. Do not use soap dish that contains chlorine. Dab the solution on the cushion floor mats stain with a clean cloth. Work the edges of the spot towards the center. Do not get wet the carpet, but get the whole piece of wet glue.
Continue rubbing until as much of the glue is removed as possible. Mix 1 tablespoon. Ammonia with 1 cup of water. Dab the ammonia solution on the glue stain. Keep in mind that this could lighten some cushion floor mats. Rinse the area with clean water and dry with a clean cloth. Clean as much glue as possible with a cloth soaked in water.
